Diagnosing Alice

It couldn’t have been more than six months since the fall. The doctors huddled together a young girl who puzzled them as she stated ‘curious and curiouser’ in repetition. They were truly puzzled.

There was nothing physically wrong with the girl. They had checked everything. No one wished to say it, but they all thought her mad. The terrible thing being she was harmless in her madness, always seeking out teacups and while a nurse was performing a blood test – naming her the Red Queen.

One could say she had an overactive imagination which is how the six men decided to diagnose her, heavens an insane asylum was not fitting for one so young. Still, they always wondered where she should go in life. The butterfly in the room thought they should have wondered where she had been…
